Special formats
The last blog post inspired me to flip through some old sketchbooks. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be showcasing one of my concertina-sketchbooks that I made a few years ago.
This type of sketchbook allows you to create a continuous design that can span several meters, depending on its length.
By working in a single piece, building on what came before, and dealing with the individual length of the section I was working on, I stayed focused on a narrow theme. I experienced it as writing a whole story in pictures and had a lot of fun with it.
My concertinas are also made of sturdy paper, so I was able to experiment extensively with various painting media. Plus, these books let you work in an unusual format.
All these unique features broaden the experience of a mixed-media artist and offer a wealth of inspiration.
