Challenge

After several months of consistently working in my sketchbook, I’ve not only become more skilled at creating art, but I’ve also developed a desire to experiment with new materials or combinations of materials.

I was amazed to discover just how much the paper can withstand and how much fun it is for me to push it to its limits.

The very best part is that I can even work on it in the evenings on the sofa, once the messiest part has been done in the studio. You can’t take on a challenge in a more relaxed way.

I don’t have these moments every day, but knowing that this feeling exists and having the opportunity to create art in a state of absolute relaxation gives me a lot of self-confidence. The most inspiring pieces have come about this way, and I wonder if I could have tapped into this part of my creative energy during the day in the studio.
