What appeals to me…

…is color! What else could it be?

The magic happens when, after having applied any kind of paint on a surface, two hues start a conversation with each other. It is at this moment that the picture begins to breathe, that it comes to life, and speaks to its surroundings.

Each painting I work on only begins to make sense when this happens. Every design I create must be brought to this point, otherwise it doesn't feel like a completed work of art.

It took a while to understand this process and to trust my skills and the artwork itself in order to perform this dance over and over again.

I discovered this aspect as my decisive motivation for painting after many hours of intensive color studies and through my reflective sketchbook practice.
