Sketchbook obsession

If you browse my website or Instagram, you’ll notice that sketchbook work plays a major role in my creative process. After all, I’ve dedicated this blog to the topic.

At the very beginning, it served as a way to gather material and experience every day. I experimented with different things and intended to observe myself over a long period of time as I made art: what’s fun, what appeals, what comes easily, what’s challenging...

After some time, my ambitions grew. I wanted to create sketchbooks dedicated to specific themes. For example, I started one book containing only pencil and colored pencil drawings, another intended solely for collages, and yet another devoted to precise, design-oriented concepts.

As a result, I’ve accumulated a collection of very different sketchbooks and have learned a great deal about my own way of thinking through this process. When I start a new art project, I can now consult various sketchbooks for inspiration and even lay them out open side by side, like on a mood board.

Over the years, I’ve become downright addicted to sketchbook work!

Lately, I’ve been feeling a growing desire to design sketchbooks like artist’s books—that is, to turn them into works of art in their own right. This is a huge challenge, and I’m curious to see if I’ll succeed and where it will take me.
